Reflecting on the Passage of Time, Entry 2
I have loved taking my neighbor Aneleisa’s portrait since we were both little kids. The first image is from 2001 when when I was 13 and she was 6. The next one fast forwards a decade or so, made for her high school graduation. This juxtaposition reveals a consistent energy in the subject, a consistency of rapport between subject and photographer, and shows a fascinating collapse of time into two-dimensions. It makes me think about family photographs (or whomever one repeatedly photographs throughout their lives.) Most likely you have some visual record of your beloveds.

Some other projects that focus and expand on the concept of rephotographing the same subject include Daniel Meadow’s Then and Now , Beth Yarnelle Edwards’ Suburban Dreams and Nicholas Nixon’s The Brown Sisters.
